Specialized Child and Youth Group Care
Our culturally appropriate center(s) provide a safe,
stable, and caring environment which allows children and youth to grow and experience their own
culture while providing “Life skills” to work towards a successful future. Our team of trained
leaders and youth workers focus on “Building bridges” and helping the youth work towards
reunification with self, family, culture, and community
Cultural Support
OKISIKOW ISKWEW CENTER LTD Values “Seven Sacred teachings,
Humility, Honesty, Respect, Courage, Wisdom, Truth and Love are the core pillars of
OKISIKOWISKWEW CENTER LTD. It is through attending our traditional language teachings
and ceremonies such as: Creation story, naming ceremony, Rites of passage, Women’s Moon
lodge, Sweat Lodge, Reiki, Horse dance, round dance, Powwow, Medicine picking, Oscapious
teachings, Sundance, and Culture camps that we enhance and teach these values.
Elder and ceremonial support
Our program rests on a foundation of language(s), culture and ceremony and
we provide children and youth access to knowledge, lessons and teaching of their own heritage,
including; Naming ceremony, Belly button exercise, Walking out ceremony, Rites of passage,
Land based teachings, Talking/Sharing circle, Oscapious teachings, Sweat lodge, Sundance, Horse
dance and ceremonial teachings, crafts, dancing, singing and language, reiki and traditional
healing, Equine assisted learning, coping with bullying, peer pressure, suicide awareness,
substance abuse, men’s and women’s teachings.
Transportation
Our Drive Program provides safe
transportation and supervision to and from appointments, ceremony, recreational activities, home,
and community visits. All our staff and driver(s) have certification in Standard first aid, Non-
violent crisis intervention, Suicide intervention and Medication administration.
Our vehicles carry Two-million-dollar insurance liability, first aid kit, fire
extinguisher and Narcan kits.
Supervised visits
OKISIKOW ISKWEW CENTER LTD Director/designate supports and
assists with the coordination of “Supervised Visits” and facilitates parent/child interactions where
required. The Director/designate is always present to observe and document interactions between
parent and child.
Recreational Activities
We encourages youth to participate
with staff in recreational activities outside of the home that promote healthy body, mind, and spirit
such as swimming,
